March:
2nd - Solutions focussed Communications – Tamar Science Park, Plymouth- Full Day - 9.30am-4pm
To learn, reflect on, and build understanding of the philosophy, value base, tools and techniques of solution-focused
communication. To experience first-hand the power of a solution-focused conversation through skills practice, to
develop competence and confidence in using the tools and techniques. To learn how to conduct a solution-focused
session – and to be a member of one and explore how the learning can be applied in individual work contexts.
11th - Managing people - development, support and motivation– Harry Hems Centre, Exeter - Full Day 9.30am - 4pm
Managing people well can make a real difference to an organisation and bring out the best in individuals and teams. Focussing on development, support, motivation and task is an effective way to manage and motivate people to realise their optimum performance and potential.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- understand different management styles and have an improved understanding of your own.
- be more aware of your beliefs and attitudes to managing people and supervision
- have a clear understanding of the key principles and aims of supervision
- have a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a line-manager
- have a clear understanding of the importance of influencing, delegating and motivating
- have grown in competence and confidence in using solution focused communication to encourage better motivation and performance
- be better able to recognise and deal with poor performance

- give feedback and validation
Line-managing staff is a core function of most managers working in public, private and 3rd sector organisations. This workshop introduces the values, attitudes and skills of a good line-manager, explains the benefits of having a worksable supervision framework in place.
It has been designed for individuals responsible for line-managing staff and volunteers for the first time and for existing line-managers who wish to refresh their skills and competencies and want to take a solution-focused approach to managing people.
APRIL
13th - Who Moved My Cheese - Harry Hems Centre, Exeter - 5.30pm - 9pm
Working in a customer focused company with changes occurring all the time can be stressful, unless people have a way of looking at change that helps them understand and even enjoy it! During this workshop we will explore all aspects of change management by using the concepts presented in Ken Blanchard’s book “Who Moved My Cheese.”

MAY:
6th - High Impact Communications - Albemarle Centre, Taunton (Full day)
During the day we will explore the areas of Communications and Influencing, so that you are able to build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, staff, colleagues and partners. We will practice and develop the skills and techniques required in all areas of communications and help you to:
- Decide what you want to achieve in any situation
- Identify the best way to communicate your message and convey it with impact and energy
- Understand your position in relation to the situation and adapt to gain the best result
- Create rapport effectively and respond appropriately in any given situation
- Adopt the most effective communicatin style in 1:1, small or large group settings in order to achieve your outcomes and gain commitment
- Participate in meetings and negotiations with confidence and drive.
